Priority at junctions
Normally the traffic on the major road has priority. Cyclists need to be aware that some drivers may not give them priority – they need to check all around them for traffic and try to make eye contact with drivers to make sure they have seen them.
Left Turn (major road to minor road)
Take a look at the diagram below:

- Look back as you approach the junction.
- Signal clearly with the left arm – holding for at least 3 seconds.
- Put both hands back on.
- Give a lifesaver look back.
- Go! Turn left into the junction staying reasonably close to the 3 kerb. Look out for traffic turning in front of you and give way to any pedestrians crossing the road.
